Transfer, charter or self-drive?
A taxi boat solves a specific crossing. A skippered private boat offers a more flexible day, with the itinerary still subject to conditions and the skipper’s judgement. Self-drive hire adds responsibility rather than simply removing a skipper’s fee. Confirm the qualifications and experience the operator requires, the insurance, fuel basis, deposit and boat return terms. Make the arrival part of the plan
Before paying, agree the departure point, the exact destination and the return arrangement. Ask whether luggage, waiting time and a change of plan are included. A named bay is more useful than “Pakleni” when arranging transport. For a restaurant visit, let the venue confirm the appropriate landing. Leave time between the island return and any onward ferry; a tightly timed connection is not worth building a relaxed day around.
Keep one thing unplanned
Build the day around one worthwhile reservation and leave the rest as possibilities. A second restaurant or another island can turn a simple outing into several timed transfers. Keep a land-based alternative on Hvar for unsuitable sea conditions. The aim is not to collect the greatest number of stops; it is to return having enjoyed the places you actually chose. Make the return part of the plan.
Agree the exact landing point, pickup and return, and weather arrangements with your operator. Confirm seasonal opening directly. Hvar town and Stari Grad ferry port are different arrival points.
